As a trainer, I’m often asked to recommend different supplements. To do so is beyond my scope of practice, however, I’m happy to share what to look for in a supplement such as protein. Consider your personal preferences for plant-based v.s. animal protein, and any food tolerances and sensitivities. Digestibility or bioavailability is important. Isolate products have fewer carbs and less fat. Ideally, you want less than 5 grams of sugar per serving and natural sweeteners instead of refined ones (i.e. corn syrup) or sugar alcohols ( sorbitol, xylitol, etc.). Finally, and perhaps most importantly, purity and quality testing by an independent third party such as NSF or USP. Thrive Protein powder ticks most, if not all, these boxes. Personally, I like the vanilla version. I just mix it with water and a scoop of Thrive Creatine and drink it during and/or after my workout. Tastes great and mixes easily. Best of all, it’s reasonably priced, made in Canada and delivered to my door promptly upon ordering! Definitely worth a try if you’re looking to increase your protein intake to aid recovery and repair.
